Privacy Policy

Last Updated: July 2026

At JOY (Jotting Our Yesterdays), we take your privacy with the utmost seriousness. JOY is designed from the ground up to be a private, secure, and intimate space for you and your chosen circle. We do not sell your data, we do not run ads, and we do not use algorithms to profile your behavior.

1. Information We Collect

To provide the JOY memory-keeping service, we collect the minimum amount of information necessary:

  • Account Information: Your email address and display name when you register.
  • User Content: The text jots, images, categories, and styles you add to your memory jars. This content is stored securely on our database.
  • Authentication Data: Secure login tokens managed through our database provider, Supabase.

2. How Your Information is Shared

Your content is shared only with the authenticated members of the jars you create or join.

  • No search engines can index your jots, memories, or profile.
  • No other JOY users outside your specific jar memberships can view your content.
  • We do not share your personal information or content with third parties, except as required to run the cloud hosting database (Supabase) or as required by law.

3. Data Retention and Deletion

You have complete control over your memories:

  • Soft Delete: When you delete a memory, it is hidden from your feed but retained in your "Deleted Joys" archive for 30 days, allowing you to restore it if deleted by mistake.
  • Permanent Deletion: You can choose to permanently delete a memory from the archive, which erases it from our databases immediately and irreversibly.
  • Account Deletion: If you choose to close your account, all your personal data and jar memberships will be permanently deleted.

4. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including SSL encryption for all traffic and PostgreSQL Row-Level Security (RLS) policies to guarantee that only authorized users can read or write to specific jar records.
