JOY — Jotting Our Yesterdays
Delete your data
In JOY (Jotting Our Yesterdays) you can remove individual memories without closing your account. JOY is the private memory-jar app listed on Google Play and the App Store as Jotting Our Yesterdays.
To close the whole account instead, use the Delete account page.
How to delete a jot without deleting your account
- Open the JOY (Jotting Our Yesterdays) app and sign in.
- Open the jar that holds the jot.
- On that moment, tap the more menu (three dots).
- Tap Let go of this moment. You can only do this for jots you wrote.
- The jot leaves the timeline and is kept in Moments Let Go for 30 days. Attached photos or voice notes go with it.
- To erase it immediately, tap your profile, choose Moments Let Go, then tap Delete Forever.
If you cannot open the app
Email hello@startjotting.today from the Google or Apple email on your JOY account. Say which jots or media you want removed, and that you want to keep the account. We will verify the request and apply the same deletion rules described here.
Data that is deleted
- The jot you let go of, including its text
- Photos and voice notes attached to that jot
After you tap Delete Forever, or after the 30-day window ends, that jot and its media are permanently removed. Your account, other jots, and jar memberships stay.
Data that is kept
- Your JOY account, profile, and sign-in email
- Jots you did not let go of
- Jots, photos, and voice notes written by other members of a shared jar
- Jar memberships, unless you leave or delete that jar separately in Settings
Retention periods
- Moments Let Go: 30 days. You can Restore during that window.
- Delete Forever: removed immediately from the app. Media files are deleted from storage when that request succeeds.
- After 30 days: unrestored items are permanently deleted automatically. They are not kept as a recoverable backup of that jot.
